Article 2- - - PRINTER

What is printer?
--->> In computers, a printer is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and transfers the information to paper, usually to standard size sheets of paper. Printers are sometimes sold with computers, but more frequently are purchased separately. Printers vary in size, speed, sophistication, and cost. In general, more expensive printers are used for higher-resolution color printing.
Personal computer printers can be distinguished as impact or non-impact printers. Early impact printers worked something like an automatic typewriter, with a key striking an inked impression on paper for each printed character. The dot-matrix printer was a popular low-cost personal computer printer. It's an impact printer that strikes the paper a line at a time. The best-known non-impact printers are the ink jet printer, of which several makes of low-cost color printers are an example, and the laser printer . The ink jet sprays ink from an ink cartridge at very close range to the paper as it rolls by. The laser printer uses a laser beam reflected from a mirror to attract ink (called toner ) to selected paper areas as a sheet rolls over a drum.
The four printer qualities of most interest to most users are:
* Color: Color is important for users who need to print pages for presentations or maps and other pages where color is part of the information. Color printers can also be set to print only in black-and-white. Color printers are more expensive to operate since they use two ink cartridges (one color and one black ink) that need to be replaced after a certain number of pages. Users who don't have a specific need for color and who print a lot of pages will find a black-and-white printer cheaper to operate.
*Resolution: Printer resolution (the sharpness of text and images on paper) is usually measured in dots per inch ( dpi ). Most inexpensive printers provide sufficient resolution for most purposes at 600 dpi.
*Speed: If you do much printing, the speed of the printer becomes important. Inexpensive printers print only about 3 to 6 sheets per minute. Color printing is slower. More expensive printers are much faster.
**Memory: Most printers come with a small amount of memory (for example, one megabyte ) that can be expanded by the user. Having more than the minimum amount of memory is helpful and faster when printing out pages with large images or tables with lines around them (which the printer treats as a large image).
***The Xerox Phaser 3435 monochrome laser printer is designed using a bright white plastic front, blue top  and soft gray sides and back. The affordable Xerox Phaser 3435 monochrome laser printer offers printing speed of up to 33 ppm in A4 paper size and supports print resolution of up to 600 x 600 DPI effective output.
Ideally suited for small offices, students, SOHO users, and SMB users the new Xerox Phaser 3435 black and white laser printer is a new platform replacement of Xerox Phaser 3428 and supports advanced features and latest protocols.
Xerox Phaser 3435 is equipped with Samsung 400 MHz Processor and has 34-MB internal RAM expandable to 320 MB maximum and features USB v2.0 high speed port connection. Being compatible with Adobe PostScript 3 and PCL emulation, this laser printer ensures accurate print jobs.

Complies with the Energy Star specifications, the Xerox Phaser 3435 laser printer produces long lasting monochrome prints that are smudge and water resistant and razor sharp with 600 x 600 dpi resolution with upto 1200×1200 dpi enhanced image quality. The unit is powered by 400 MHz processor and is equipped with 64-MB of total internal memory which is expandable to maximum 320 MB.
Xerox Phaser 3435 is fully compatible with Windows (98/ME/2000/XP), Macontosh and Linux (Red Hat, Caldera, Mandrake, Slackware, SUSE and Turbo Linux) operating systems.
The Xerox Phaser 3435 monochrome laser printer allows upto 33 ppm speed with first page out in less than 8.5 seconds and feature automatic two-side printing making it very economical.
Xerox Phaser 3435 black and white printer supports various other features including Watermarks, N-up, Fit to page, Poster Printing, scaling, overlays, toner saver, booklet printing, reduce/enlarge and custom pages. The 5 click installation process makes this device easy to setup and user friendly.
It comes with a standard 250-sheet paper tray and an optional paper tray allows users load a mximum of 500 sheets (an entire ream) of paper at a time reducing refilling delays. Xerox Phaser 3435 laser printer’s economical print technology yields an average of 10,000 pages per cartridge.
The Xerox Phaser 3435 laser printer’s clean, compact design and large monthly duty cycle of 80,000 pages make it ideal for anyone with limited office space. In addition, the Xerox Phaser 3435 monochrome laser printer also features a toner save button for enhanced productivity. Laser printer also provides a heavy-duty clear plastic cover to shield the paper from spills and help keep dust out of the printer’s interior.
The Xerox Phaser 3435 laser printer holds upto 300 to 500 A4 size sheet in a Multi Purpose input Tray, and output bin can hold upto 150-sheets face down. The laser printer can handle all sorts of print media including transparencies, labels, post cards, and envelopes for direct printing.
With less than 8.5 second warm-up time, the new Xerox Phaser 3435 monochrome laser printer is about 5.5 kgs in weight with dimensions of 401 x 434 x 312 mm.

No matter where you are reading this article, you most likely have a printer nearby. And there's a very good chance that it is an inkjet printer. Since their introduction in the latter half of the 1980s, inkjet printers have grown in popularity and performance while dropping significantly in price.
An inkjet printer is any printer that places extremely small droplets of ink onto paper to create an image. If you ever look at a piece of paper that has come out of an inkjet printer, you know that:
*The dots are extremely small (usually between 50 and 60 microns in diameter), so small that they are tinier than the diameter of a human hair (70 microns)!
*The dots are positioned very precisely, with resolutions of up to 1440x720 dots per inch (dpi).
*The dots can have different colors combined together to create photo-quality images.

The Sartorius YDP03-OCE data printer with built-in real-time clock with statistics programs designed for Sartorius balances equipped with an RS-232 interface.  Text and data are printed with up to 24 characters per line and the unit is equipped with a real-time clock.  High contrast LCD that shows the date or time as well as the current transaction number.  Integrated rechargeable batteries with battery level indicator.  Runs on the balance's power, no separate power supply necessary.  Easy to change paper roll and ink ribbon cassette.  The Sartorius YDP03-OCE data printer meets the quality standards of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries in compliance with the requirements of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) and GMP(Good manufacturing Practice).
In addition to recording individual weighing data the data printer can generate a statistical evaluation of weighing data. All values transferred from an on-line weighing instrument are stored.
following can be computed/printed out.
*Number of weighing operations
*Mean value
*Standard deviation
*Variation coefficient
*Minimum value/weight
*Maximum vale/weight
*Difference between the maximum and minimum value/weight
The Sartorius YDP03-OCE data printer is powered by the Sartorius Balance via the printer cable that is supplied with the YDP03-OCE data printer.  Turning ON the Sartorius balance when the printer is connected will automatically turn ON the printer.  The rechargeable batteries with be charging when printer is not in use, but the balance is turned ON.  The Sartorius YDP03-OCE uses a standard paper roll 57.5 mm ±0.5mm with a maximum diameter of 65mm.
